Blocking Scene 2

Blocking Scene 2

In this lesson, we covered scene 2 which is set outside the theatre close to the entrance. We decided on the outdoors setting as the natural surroundings/props/features (trees, grass, breeze etc.) helps really envision the basis of the musical; the woods. This idea is also much more resourceful, as we do not need to re-construct the background and the attributes of the forest scenery and attempt to make it as realistic as we could. As we began blocking the scene, I remained in my original position of DSR, opposite to Holly in DSL. We were thinking of my position infront of a bin possibly covered with a type of sheet. We will also use the exit glass walkway, away on the side of the staging for certain characters to enter from, which would also be covered with a type of sheet to hide everyone preparing to go on. Because scenes 2 and onwards are performed outdoors, the environment can become distracting e.g strong wind/rain, so we need to concentrate and uphold our characterization, as well as our volume and pronunciation of words.
