Today we started off the lesson by practicing our posture and alignment for how you should stand when singing in musical theatre. We were told to have our feet fairly spaced apart and parallel, and to have our head slightly tilted upright. Our shoulders also had to be loose and relaxed. Lena explained how our voice box is a muscle that like any muscle, can be stretched when warmed up properly and useful exercises to help extend our power and vocal range.
We also discussed different types of variety performances and skills that are used and famous performances dating back in the 19th century.
