Singing With Kim 15th May

Today we came back to the JC song 'Everything You Didn't Do'. We split into two harmonies that happened in parts in the chorus, and there was also a 3rd group that shout a phrase near the end. These rehearsals have helped me to improve my flexibility and range. I still need to work on my intonation especially near the end, as there is a quick change of key that's hard to do as it's unexpected.

Variety Performance 15th May

Today we rehearsed newly made up movement for our burlesque routine. We are near to finishing the last routine. We have decided to use a canon relationship for this small section which is the opening to 'Show Me How You Burlesque'.

Variety performance 14th May

For our act, we originally decided on 2 parts to it, with the first scene being the bar/waitress section, and the next being the actual burlesque dancing. However, we felt that it would be too complicated especially for the audience to understand, as it is based on the 'Burlesque' film, so wouldn't make much sense to the rest of our act. So, we've chosen to remove this section and just stick to the burlesque routine. This way we can focus on one costume and make-up, and ensure we tighten the performance

Variety performance 12th May

Today we did peer assessment, where we watched our peer's acts and we gace them feedback on what they did well and what they could develop. I think this was really helpful as  we get to hear opinions from another perspective.

CATS dance evaluation

In the show, our dances went really well and we kept our energy and characterisation of the angry paps and journalists up. I was happy with my facial expressions, using constant stern looks towards the opposing side and the audience. I feel I could've improved on my dynamics on the movement e.g sharpness, as the dance can seem quite monotone. I could've also been more contrasting with the use of levels for example in one our developed motifs when we alternate between crouching down and reaching up and tall. This could've been more exaggerated.

For all the dances, I was restricted slightly due to the choice of my clothing which I should have thought about before. Movements like full extension of my legs, mid-high leg flicks and deep pliés were achievable only to an extent which I was disappointed by because I enjoyed the dances very well.

Overall, I enjoyed performing in CATS and dances we were really struggling on beforehand went much better than it had been before, and we were all more confident in the songs which meant we sang them better when dancing
