Lesson Analysis 8th January

This lesson we focused on the second part of our audition for The Wonderful World of Dissocia, a play revolving around a lady called Lisa who suffers from dissociative identity disorder, seeing life in a much more vivid, imaginative and very unordinary way.

For the second part, we were divided into seperate groups and given 3 individual scenarios we needed to improvise on. Each scenario had to have a different mood/emotion, in which we needed to apply it in our actions and speech.

Our first scenario was at a hairdressers, and the mood was 'funny'. We then set each of our characters and quickly decided what to include.

Our second scenario was at a family dinner, and we had to put across anger. This scene involved a lot of screaming and shouting as we wanted to reflect family arguments.

Our third scenario was a much more serious as it was to do with the death of a person, and we were improvising what would be happening e.g mourning, speeches etc.

We then had to link all the scenarios together in any way we thought would work, so our group decided on linking some of the characters as relatives in each scene.

I found this workshop very helpful as it improved my improvisation where we had to figure out decisions in around 5 minutes, and then find a way to link the scenarios in 25 minutes. Although we were under pressure, it gave us a chance to test out our spontaneity.
